We are seeking up to 5 students, in any college or department, to assist in the development of Clear Language Research Summaries. Students will be trained in how to translate peer-reviewed journal articles or books into documents that are accessible to a wide variety of people outside academia.

Successful Knowledge Translation and Transfer Projects for the Fall 2010 Call for Proposals

The second call for Category A proposals funded by Agri-Food and Rural Link, the Knowledge Translation and Transfer program under the OMAFRA/U of G Partnership has resulted in support for 11 projects, totalling more than $635,000 in funding. The approved projects and Principal Investigators are listed here.

There was a high level of interest in this program with a total of 22 proposals submitted. The KTT Program will be issuing one more call for proposals in 2011 with the call opening on January 24 and proposals due February 28, 2011.

Open Source, Peer-Reviewed Journal for Community-Engaged Scholarship

Kudos to the Journal of Higher Education Outreach & Engagement (JHEOE) for converting to an open source platform (including all of its back issues!). We encourage other subscription-based journals that focus on community-engaged scholarship to follow suit!

The mission of the JHEOE is to serve as the premier peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal to advance theory and practice related to all forms of outreach and engagement between higher education institutions and communities.

This includes highlighting innovative endeavours; critically examining emerging issues, trends, challenges, and opportunities; and reporting on studies of impact in the areas of public service, outreach, engagement, extension, engaged research, community-based research, community-based participatory research, action research, public scholarship, service-learning, and community service.

The JHEOE invites manuscripts in four categories of exploration:

In partnership with Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH), the Critical Junctures conference at the University of Guelph brought together national and international scholars from diverse disciplinary backgrounds to present and discuss emerging research on community-engaged scholarship (CES) in higher education and its implications for research, practice and policy.
